8 Months!!

8 Months Old

My sweet Gracie, I cannot believe that you are already 8 months old!  I woke up this morning and almost got sad that the time is going so quickly but then I heard your sweet "singing" from the crib and I remembered I have the sweetest child ever!!  You are the light of your daddy and my eyes and we love to more each day then the day before even though it is hard to imagine.

This month you have mastered rolling and figuring out a way to get where you want to be.  You are not quite crawling but I know that any day now you are going to put all the pieces together and crawl......Mommy is not quite ready for that :) You LOVE food of any kind.  There is nothing that you have not really liked.  No teeth yet but it feels like there might be some coming threw soon.   The only thing that is still hard is mommy and daddy are TIRED!!  You are still getting up twice a night!  But I know this time will go so quickly and I will not even remember this :) You also had a very special trip where you cousins, Auntie, and Uncle came to visit.  You had your first trip to the zoo and we had a great time.   We love you pumpkin! Keep Growing!

7 Months!!

Gracie is growing so fast it is hard to believe!  She turned 7 months last Friday but over the weekend we had daddy's first fathers day AND his 30th birthday!  It was a really fun time but I was really busy so did not get around to posting.   One of her new favorite things is swimming!  She loves the water and is ok with going under the water as well!  She is kicking her feet loves splashing around.  She is sitting so well and I am sure that she is going to try to be on the move soon.....mommy is not ready for that :) Gracie is "talking" a lot and always loves seeing her daddy come through the front door.  The only thing that she is not so good at is sleeping at night.....mommy and daddy are very tired but hopefully soon she will at least drop it down to only getting up once or twice at the most. Oh well, this too will be over in a blink of an eye :)   She is the joy and light in our life.  So much fun to have playing and talking to us :) We love you pumpkin!

Blueberrys.......

Oh Yummy Blueberries

Today I made some blueberry lemon jam and scones to go with it. I was inspired by my Aunt Arleen who made some jam recently.  This was not my recipe but I made it work with the berries that I had. The scone recipe was from my mother but really good! I bought 4 little things of blueberries from the store and used them for each recipe.  One basket was about 1 cup of blueberries.

Blueberry Lemon Jam
3 1/2 cups of blueberries
the zest of 2 lemons
Lemon juice from the two lemons
6 tbs. of pectin (or 1 package)
3 1/2 cups of sugar
3 pint jars

1. Get jars in the water
2. smash blueberries and add lemon juice, zest, and pectin--Bring to a rolling boil
3. Add sugar and bring back to a rolling boil for 1 minute
4. Take jars out of the water bath and fill.  Wipe clean the edges and top with ring and lid.
5. Put back in the water bath for 10 minutes.

****If you are not sure how to can jam you can watch a youtube video about it.  There are several***

Blueberry Cream Cheese Scone Recipe
In a food processor combine
2 cups of flour
2 tsp. of sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp of baking powder
6 tsp. of cold butter (cut into pats)
**Pulse until combines and butter is in small chunks

Take mixture out of processor and combine by hand (or with a fork)
1/2 cup of milk
1 egg
1/2 cup of cream
1/2 cup of blueberries
1/2 tsp of vanilla
1/2 tsp. of cinnamon
~~reserve a bit of the milk, egg, and cream mixture to put on the top~~

Put onto a stone (if you have one) or a sheet pan like a loaf of artisan bread (flatened  and round)
Cut into 8 pieces and separate the pieces a bit so the edges will get crisp

Before you put it into the oven brush the reserved  milk, egg, and cream mixture over the top.  You can add little pieces of cream cheese and sprinkle sugar over it if you want

Bake at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until the edges start to look brown

Enjoy!!!

6 Months Old!!

Gracie and Conner.....Great friends!
 6 Months Old!!

Gracie is just getting bigger and bigger.  She has had a lot of changes this last month.  Gracie is loving food of all kinds, playing with her friends, and "exploring" anything she can get her hands on.  She is almost sitting by herself and rolling from back to front as well as front to back.  I know before long she will be moving.....mommy is not ready for that :) Gracie is getting quite a personality and loves her daddy and momma.  We love you Gracie and adore seeing you grow up! Mommy is treasuring every snuggle because she is already not liking to just sit and snuggle.  Love you always!!!

5 Months! (on the 17th :)

 5 Months!!

I am writing this a few days late but I wanted to do a blog with our favorite pictures of the month. One of the big new things this month is eating food!  Gracie had started to show interest in food and so we gave her some and she loves it.  She has had avocado, banana, egg yoke, pureed grass fed beef (it smelled gross but she loved it :) as well as some vegetables.  This is a new thing.  She had her first food the day before she turned 5 months.  It is mostly a social thing now but she just goes mmmmmm the whole time :) The other thing that is new is that we got her ears pierced.  She looks so cute.  On the day she turned 5 months her daddy and I also took her to the beach which was a lot of fun. I also take her swimming once a week and she absolutely loves it.  She lays on her back, goes under water and loves to kick her feet in the pool.  That is the reason for the pictures in her bathing suit below.  One of the last things that she is doing is rolling over from her stomach to her back.....sometimes.  All in all she is such a delight to her daddy and I.   We just love seeing what new things she will learn each day!

First swimsuit......daddy vetoed this one but I think it is so cute :)

Such cute shorts, a hand me down from her cousin

Gracie still fits in the moby wrap....although we really never use it but I did not have by baby bejiorn so that is why it was being used.
